Mr. Chachibaia joined Tethys Petroleum as Vice President Operations in 2008. Mr. Chachibaia is an experienced oil and gas engineer with over 11 years working for Schlumberger in various engineering and management positions. Starting as a field engineer with Dowell Schlumberger, Mr. Chachibaia progressed to hold a variety of roles within Schlumberger including Operations Manager, Well Services for Northern Europe and Business Manager, Well Services in Libya. Mr. Chachibaia specializes in oil and gas field operations management including well construction, completion and stimulation. Mr. Chachibaia has worked in many parts for the world including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine. In the Company he is responsible for all drilling and production operational activities and is also project manager of the Company's Kazakhstan Oil Exploration and Development team. Mr. Chachibaia holds a Masters Diploma in Engineering Geophysics.
Clive joined Tethys from Essar, where he held the position of Director of Financial Operations and Controller of their Infrastructure business (EPC and Ports and Terminals) leading up to IPO and in Essar Energy plc, a FTSE250 integrated oil and gas and power generation business. Clive qualified as a Chartered accountant with Deloitte & Touche, Australia in 1994 before re-locating to London where he was a Senior Manager in the Financial Services Practice. Between leaving Deloitte and joining Essar, Clive held a number of senior finance positions with Charles Taylor plc, a LSE main market listed services business, including Group Financial Controller, Deputy Group Finance Director and Finance Director of the largest operating division.
Mr. May studied at the University of Arkansas and obtained a BS in Soil Chemistry at the University of Arkansas, he later continued with his studies to obtain a Masters and teaching qualification before joining the U.S. Army. After retiring a Colonel, Mr. May worked in the Mangystau Province of Kazakhstan as a Project Manager for Holyfied Exploration Company and as President of Double Energy Company. Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer, Mr. May has worked closely with the new Board of Directors of Tethys Petroleum.
Mr. Kulumbetov is the current General Director of Tethys group of companies in Kazakhstan (TethysAralGas LLP, Tethys Services Kazakhstan LLP, Kul-Bas LLP). He has been working in an oil and gas industry for more than 15 years, including 10 years of faithful work in Tethys.
In June 2015 Mr. Kulumbetov was awarded a diploma and honorary medal for the discovery of the Akkulka Oil Field in 2009-2010, these honours were awarded by Mr. Nurabayev, the Chairman of the Committee of Geology and Subsoil Use.
Mr. Kulumbetov was awarded a medal by Kazenergy Association for contribution into the development of oil and gas and energy sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In March 2012 Mr. Kulumbetov received a letter of gratitude from the Committee of Geology and Subsoil Use, part of Kazakh Ministry of Energy, for his productive work on geological examining of territory of Kazakhstan and developing mineral resources of Kazakhstan.
He took part in development and coordination of project documents; he was also directly involved in drilling, research and testing of exploratory wells at certain stages. Mr. Kulumbetov is a member of International Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Mr. Kulumbetov started his successful career working in such companies as JV Southoilgas, Tarbagataimunai LLP, JV Holding Company “KUAT“, and also in the Department of a petroleum industry of the Ministry of oil and gas. Having joined Tethys in 2006 as a drilling engineer Mr. Kulumbetov proceeded as Deputy Technical Director, Deputy of Project Manager of Kazakh Oil Exploration Development KOED/Director of Government Relation Department, Deputy General Director, First Deputy General Director to General Director.
Mr. Kulumbetov holds an honours diploma in Engineering with the major in Technology and techniques of investigation of deposits of minerals from the Oil and Gas faculty of the Kazakh National Technical University in Almaty. He also holds a diploma in Economics with the major in Economics & Foreign Affairs, speciality - Oil business, from the Economy and International Affairs Faculty of Kazakh University of Economics in Almaty.
